Hi, I’m Marissa!
I’m a former collegiate lacrosse player, current college lacrosse coach, certified personal trainer, and Sports Engineering graduate student at the University of Miami.
Sports have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I played collegiate lacrosse at both the University of Louisville and Maryville University, where I finished my career as an NCAA Division II All-American. My experience as an athlete shaped not only the way I train, but also the way I approach coaching and connecting with other athletes.
Being a student-athlete taught me that performance is about so much more than what happens on the field. Balancing academics, training, relationships, expectations, and the pressure to perform can take a toll mentally. I understand how easily your performance can affect the way you see yourself and how much of your identity can become tied to your sport. Because of my own experiences, creating a supportive environment where athletes feel understood is especially important to me.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Data Science from Maryville University and am now pursuing my master’s in Sports Engineering at the University of Miami. As a coach, I’m passionate about helping athletes become stronger, more confident, and more capable while understanding the purpose behind their training.
Having recently transitioned out of collegiate athletics myself, I understand the challenge of figuring out who you are outside of your sport. My goal is to use my experiences as an athlete, coach, and student to help athletes perform at their best both on and off the field, while supporting their growth academically, athletically, and personally.
